Mystery Surrounds Death of Teen in South Arkansas
(2005-01-09) Investigators said Tim Stone was thrown from his car on isolated state highway 57 in Ouachita Co. and killed in a one-car accident in September 2003. Family members, including his mother Renata Balleza, questioned that ruling from the beginning, pointing to evidence at the scene and threats some of Tim's friends had made on his life. At their insistence the Arkansas State Police started a homocide investigation, and the prosecuting attorney is awaiting the case file.

Mother seeking
Justice for son Letter to the editor
Publication:Camden News Date: Wednesday, October 27, 2004 Section:Editorial Page:4
Dear Editor:
My son was killed while traveling Hwy. 57 in Chidester on Sept. 23, 2003. In the beginning this was believed to be an accident but after realizing several inconsistencies in the police reports and hiring a team of investigators to look into the matter we have discovered evidence I believe is pertinent to the arrest of the persons responsible for my son's death.
Since my son's death we have encountered numerous obstacles with law enforcement and the prosecuting attorney’s office.
My son's car was found by the Ouachita County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas State Police the night of his accident and was towed to a Camden wrecking yard. The car was not processed by the police and we were not given the option to have it towed the couple of miles to our home instead of being charged the enormous storage fees by the wrecker service many miles away.
Speaking of the car, we were not told where the car was stored and In fact when we called the sheriffs office they said they did not know where it was towed.
When we located the car a week later the fees were well over $700 to tow it to the house.
The coroner who presided over my son’s death says he feels uncomfortable with the position of my son's body and condition of his skull. That is was inconsistent with an accident.
Although the car had very little damage and NO DAMAGE to the top, the police report says the initial impact was the TOP of Tim’s car.
The first witness to come forward has been threatened by one of the suspects and the suspect was seen trying to break into her house and knocked a person visiting her to the ground. After the witness’ family called police they were told that nothing can be done.
The suspect we are speaking of here is on three years probation and has an extensive police record with some of the charges being for stealing guns and other thefts. This suspect is rumored to be a drug dealer in the Ouachita and Nevada County areas.
At this moment my son's murder investigation (by law enforcement) is "on hold" because I was told that the lead investigator is too busy working on a nursing home case. I understand there has been an arrest in that case.
According to State Police, it will be "late November" before they can devote any attention to my son's case. I'm wondering if that has to do with the elections ....
State Police say they have no time for this case although this one is 13 months old and counting.
It seems very disturbing that we now have FOUR witnesses that have come forward that gave statements on audio and/or video tape that one of the suspects has told them THE SAME STORY that he killed my son and is BRAGGING about it. Most of these witnesses do not even know each other.
This past weekend, one of the witnesses told my private investigators and I that when she was briefly questioned by the State Police detective he made her feel "scared and a suspect herself" just for coming forward to give information. She said it seemed he want to just "hurry up and get off the phone".
I have had two witnesses that say they have called police on several occasions to give information and can never get a return call so they gave up.
One elected county official went so far as to resort to calling my son undesirable names to my face. It seems he meant that to be some kind of way to justify my son’s murder.
I've talked with the prosecutor a couple of times and even accompanied my private Investigator in June of this year to turn in her reports on the investigation which we thought was plenty of evidence to make an arrest. She told him the facts and her findings. According to a well known Little Rock criminal lawyer when I showed him the same evidence that I turned into the state police and prosecuting attorney, he said "if it was being tried in Little Rock they would have already been arrested."
The prosecutor says police have the final say, the police say the prosecutor has the final say. So It's just a big "run around" to me. It seems odd that there are many agencies out there offering help and local authorities seem to have no interest in justice for my son.
I appeared on Court TV with Nancy Grace discussing my son's murder on Sept. 22 of this year and have been offered help with reward money from the "Carol Sund Foundation".
A nationally well known forensic specialist that did some work on the "OJ Simpson Case" has offered his services in Tim's case.
Maybe they do things different In small towns. I don't know. I am not from a small town. Or maybe it’s due to lack of funding they keep saying they don't have, or maybe it's due to the fact that it's an election year. I'm not sure. My hope is that justice is done. I WILL NOT stop until justice is done for my son.
I am hopeful you will print this letter and help me get Timothy's murder solved and justice done.

Timothy Stone Murder Case: No "Mystery" Here Declares Celebrated Psychic Profiler, Carla Baron
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CHIDESTER, AR (September 10, 2004)-- Renata Balleza is categorically convinced that her 17-year-old son, Timothy Stone, was murdered September 23, 2003, instead of killed in a hapless automobile accident that night.
While driving down Highway 57, just outside Chidester, Ouachita County, Arkansas, Timothy’s car left the roadway and struck a tree. It was said to have overturned three times, ejecting Timothy - but photos, autopsy reports, and psychic Carla Baron would indicate otherwise.
Renata contacted renowned psychic profiler, Carla Baron, who proceeded to give Renata certain specifics of the accident that had not yet been disclosed, along with other information that seemed somewhat confusing at the time. These psychic utterings made much more sense as the investigation continued to unfold. All case file sessions officially accepted by Ms. Baron are tape recorded for accuracy in the documentation process.
Carla Baron gave Renata details of the accident and the condition of Timothy’s body, as well as, initials of one of the perpetrators, and physical description of each - all of which have been proven to be correct.
Timothy had served in a correctional facility for minor infractions that involved three other of his cohorts (whose names were never disclosed during court proceedings.) At the time of the automobile accident, Timothy had just been released from this facility - well on his way to a complete turn-around, as observed by several people in the community where he lived with his grandfather.
Along with contacting Carla for help, Renata hired a private investigating firm out of Little Rock, AR, to gather information on Timothy’s known associates before, during and after his stint in the correctional facility.
These investigators have since uncovered much in the way of information, one such fact being that there were two individuals who reportedly revealed to an acquaintance of Timothy that they were the ones responsible for his death and he was pulled from his car and beaten to death.
There is enough circumstantial evidence at this point to raise some eyebrows and cause law enforcement to re-open the case, which the County Sheriff had otherwise officially closed.
Friends of Timothy, and those who knew him, said he would never have driven his vehicle that fast to cause such a horrific accident. This observation, along with witnesses’ statements that a ”mark” was noticed on the back bumper of Timothy’s car where another vehicle could have forced him off the roadway, has led investigators to continue their search for evidence of foul play.
Anything uncovered by the investigators is being turned over to the county prosecutor and the Arkansas State Police assigned to the accident.
The coroner who pronounced Timothy dead at the scene and examined the body maintained, the results of the examination were not consistent with Timothy having been ejected from the vehicle.
When Renata Balleza had completed the first reading with Ms. Baron back in April of this year, she contacted the coroner the very next day to ".. run some of the details of the reading by him," especially regarding the position and condition of Tim's body that fateful night.
The coroner had just one thing to say after hearing the results of Carla Baron's session with Renata. He exclaimed, "Well, she's exactly right! The position of the body was NOT consistent with an accident..."
In fact, Timothy suffered multiple contusions about the head, face, and body. Again, these particular contusions were not indicative of the type where a body might be thrown from a vehicle.
It is strongly believed that Timothy was run off the road, dragged from the car, his body beaten and left for dead. In addition, a few personal items were removed from the vehicle. These were later discovered to be in the possession of one of the probable suspects.
State Police said if there is sufficient evidence from the investigators, they will proceed with a full investigation as a homicide and the coroner has said he would change the cause of death from an accidental to suspicious or possible homicide as evidence presents.
An arrest is imminent in this situation as stated by the prosecuting attorney, and investigators are compiling evidence by the hour in order to erect a solid and binding case.
Carla also told Renata that the person(s) responsible for Timothy’s death had done this before!
This seemed a little far-fetched for Renata until she received a call from a family who had a similar experience to hers with their loved one being killed in the same manner in which Timothy is said to have been killed, and, get this - possibly by the same person or persons!
“Carla has been right on the money”, Renata exclaimed. The information she has given to me has been extremely helpful in the investigation and recovery of witnesses.
Since this is an ongoing investigation, the names of those suspected of being involved in this crime are, of course, being withheld until such time as said arrests have been made, which looks to be very soon, according to lead investigators.
We do not want to jeopardize the investigation in any way, Renata said. “We want to do what we can to get these people who killed my son behind bars where they belong.”
According to Carla, the person(s) responsible for Timothy’s death will most likely kill again if they are not apprehended soon.
Renata Balleza is following up on all the details gleaned through Carla Baron psychic sessions, the first of which began on April 3, 2004. Thus far, it has been a huge stepping-stone in the search for the truth about who killed Timothy Stone.
Carla insights will ultimately prove true - bringing about justice in what may have been so tragically brushed under the rug as a mere accident.
Carla Baron will be interviewed by Dave Holmes & Kristen Eykel on Court TV's "Saturday Night Solution" Sept. 18th, and will appear again with Court TV host Nancy Grace on a special called "Psych Out" Sept. 22nd live in New York.
